Magicbox.jp is a composite design firm, and about 6 years ago we had a challenge,to make carbon fiber more visually appealling and prove to conservative thinking that this material is not just for engineering benefits but for asthetic qualities as well. The challenge was not an easy one as carbon fiber(unlike glass fiber)cannot be dyed so we had to find another approach. We are very lucky to be based in Osaka Japan, and there is an incredible amount of small, independent high-tech manufacturing companies based here.
Mitsui Optical is one such company, and together we slowly created a coating procedure that could fully allow carbon fiber to be transformed into something that can only be described as breathtaking(Composites.jp jointly own the patent on this process as well)
Iridium coated carbon fiber, achieved by the vacuum vapour deposition method, brings a whole new approach to carbon composite design and asthetic understanding. The effect is stunning,3-dimensional metallic-like effects(although no metal is used in the process)and brings a complex myriad of changing colours and hues to the carbon fiber surface.
PLEASE NOTE AT THIS STAGE WE ONLY OFFER THE COATING IN B3 SIZE( 353 x 500mm)PIECES DUE TO THE COMPLEXITIES INVOLVED.
Available in a variety of hues and colours.
Iridium effect is very apparent and can only be described as beautiful.
Available with the incredible Fukuoka weave fabrics.
